DFW Airport Runway 18R

Irving, Texas

Scope of work:

CRIADO has coordinated closely with our prime engineer, RS&H, and DFW staff to perform a full utility investigation of the runway under nightly runway closures. Our team has identified over 390,000 LF of utilities within the runway footprint and performed a budgeted 80 Quality Level (QL) A Test Holes within the runway and adjacent taxiways.

This project has included the research, identification, and development of a Base Utility File of all utilities within the footprint of Runway 18R in advance of redevelopment by DFW. Extensive Utility Coordination has been done on this project including a thorough Utility Conflict Matrix and CRIADO authoring a SUE Exploration Program narrative for the project to be used during bid solicitation.

To perform these Test Holes, CRIADO has utilized our own vacuum excavation equipment while also partnering with our teaming partner LineQuest to Hydro-Excavate many of the deeper facilities. These locations included exposing four major jet fuel & petroleum gas lines crossing the impact area. These holes exposed complete top/edge/bottom of concrete cap for each major line, ranging from 2 feet across to 15 feet across and up to 20 feet in depth.
